Konica C35 EF

Konica C35 EF

Found this camera at a rumage sale for 50 cents. It is in excellent condition, except for the light seal foam. The foam had broken down into a black tar. I've cleaned out all the crud, so now the foam needs replaced. The compartment for the AA's (flash) was clean. The button cell battery for the exposure meter was leaking. The original exposure meter battery was a 1.3v mercury battery. After a little cleanup I tried a 1.4v hearing aid battery, which seems to work fine.

Film: 135 (ISO 25-400)
Lens: Hexanon 38mm F/2.8 (3 groups, 4 elements)
Shutter: 1/60 and 1/125 sec.
Power for CdS exposure meter: 1.35V Mallory PX-675 or Eveready EPX675 (Mercury batteries are no longer available. Replace with 1.4v hearing aid battery, size 675. Radio Shack # 23-077)
Power for flash: 2-AA batteries

Tonight In LA

Tonight In LA

So, I finally did a group shot that came out just the way I wanted decided that it would be a great way to introduce their personalities. I've made an agency and designers, but the teens were all personality-less. So, here goes...

-
Tanzie Montgomery the most feminine girl you will ever meet who knows designer brands like the back of her hand. An heiress to a oil tycoon empire, her life was literally planned out since birth and so far, it was everything her parents wanted. She took a detour and wanted to become a model to prove to her father that is a respectable career and not simply ’dress up’. Not many in the industry had faith that she would get much work because they saw her afro as a major disadvantage, but she was determined to not that the fashion industry change her. She joined Winston Models and the model school after at scout spotted her leaving a casting call and hasn’t looked back since. Her father still isn’t convinced, even with her success, but she is sure thet he will come around.

Preston and Benji Gresham are the twin sons of model royalty and their father likes to refer to himself as the ‘world first male supermodel’. He expects the best from the boys and prepping them to enter the model world began since they day they could walk. Their father wanted them to join Rilo Models, the agency that made his a household name, but they realized that it wasn’t the right place for them. Even though they knew it would disappoint their dad, they both joined Rilo’s rival agency Winston Models and it was nothing short of perfect. Like many twins, they are identical in looks, but polar opposites in personalities. Preston always wears a smile and can’t help but spread the sunshine with his outgoing and fun personality. Benji, on the other hand, is known for his rebellious ‘bad boy’ way of thinking and incredibly short temper when he hears anything he doesn’t like.

Kendra Kees is known as the beautiful liar. Coming from a very conservative family in a small Washington town, modeling was seen as a form of prostitution and frowned upon. The pull of the fashion world proved to be too great to ignore for Kendra and when Winston Models help a casting call at a local theater, she snuck out and attended. She was instantly asked to attend the model school and join the LA division. After a quick signature forgery and lie to her parents, she was on her way to becoming a teen top model. The news got back to her family and she hasn’t spoken to them since they learned of what she has done since she has brought a great deal of shame to them in their eyes. Her fellow models and roommates have helped her get through everything and stay focused on continuing her dream.

Murphy Satou is the last person to ever believe that he could be a model. He barely knew anything about fashion or designers or even the difference between slim fit and skinny jeans. He accidentally found himself at a Winston Models casting call, even he doesn’t remember how he got there, and due to his charm, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn about everything fashion and model, he was accepted into the model school and to become a Winston Model. He worked harder than anyone else to impress the mentors and classmates and show that he had what is takes and it all paid off, since he is now one of the top teen models is the fashion industry.

Irina Rosenburg is the model who was discovered while shopping . She was approached at an Arizona shopping mall to join the agency where she was to join and she took a business card, but quickly declined. She is very opinionated, sometimes too much, and saw models as robotic, stick thin, brainless snobs, which she was the very opposite of. Her parents insisted that she join the agency for them because the money she would make would help then get out of the deep debt they were in and her father was a risk of being laid off. She was reluctant because she was curvier that the average magazine model, but she was on a plane to LA within the next week. It is a choice that she is happy she made and can’t believe she didn’t consider wanting to be a model sooner.

Farrah Cunningham definitely appreciated every second of being in the fashion industry. Growing up in Oregon, she was incredibly shy and never looked at as beautiful, or ever pretty since her sister would get all the attention in her family. She has very low self esteem and had given up on trying to gain any confidence. He was literally dragged to a Winston Models casting call by her sister when she was asked to model and got the opportunity to join Winston Models and the modeling school instead of her sister. Reluctant at first, she came around and was instantly getting work upon her arrival. She discovered this side of herself that lit up in front of the camera and once she tapped into that side, there was no turning back to her old timid self any more.

November 20th 2008 - On The Set of Real Life

November 20th 2008 - On The Set of Real Life

This morning was spent in anticipation as we waited for our first real ultrasound (we'd had a couple around the first weeks of the pregnancy just to check things out). We weren't sure whether we'd find out the sex of the baby, and when we had Clarissa we didn't care. But this time we were kind of wanting to know... and we found out.

We got to see a pretty clear ultrasound of what will become our new baby girl, Zoe Renee. It was pretty exciting for all of us (Clarissa was there too). Tam was concerned that I might be disappointed about not having a boy, but I feel nothing of the sort.

Afterwards I had to head out to a video shoot for a project that we've been working on for a while. This is what will become "The Alley". It's far from done, but it will soon be a hub for shopping and nightlife in Montgomery. So we cleaned up and lit up a portion of it so that we could at least give the viewer and idea of what it might be like. This had been our most elaborate b-roll set up yet. We lit it with eight different lights and added a couple of trees in the frame with some Christmas lights. If you look closely you can see that the trees are not real and are just held in front of the camera with a c-stand. It helped to complete the illusion and hide the scaffolding and construction equipment on the left.

So at about 4:30 we got our extras lined up and rehearsed and rolled on it for about 15 minutes as the sky went from washed out to a beautiful electric blue. Careful planning the night before had really paid off. I think it worked out nice.

Motel's room

Motel's room

Entering dictionaries after World War II, the word motel, a portmanteau of motor and hotel or motorists' hotel, referred initially to a type of hotel consisting of a single building of connected rooms whose doors faced a parking lot and, in some circumstances, a common area; or a series of small cabins with common parking. As the United States highway system began to develop in the 1920s, long distance road journeys became more common and the need for inexpensive, easily accessible overnight accommodation sited close to the main routes, led to the growth of the motel concept.
